Communities and locales - San Francisco Chinatown

Jackson Street 1984 - functions and details

Ping Yuen Bakery was new at this location after being on the corner of Pacific and Grant for many years. It lost that location to United Bank when the bank bid much higher on the lease. This was part of a larger pattern in Chinatown at the time in which banks and other businesses with large amounts of capital were forcing out older small businesses serving the community.
